Developing Consistency

One of the greatest challenges we face as people is being consistent with our thoughts and actions. For some of  us no matter how hard we try to focus in on our goals, our mind tends to wander off throughout the day and before you know it we are off task and then doubting our own abilities to accomplish our goals. While we know consistency is the key to success it is also one of the hardest things to master. The people who have made a real impact with their lives are not necessarily the most talented, but they are the most consistent. When I investigate the lives of successful people, I saw one thing that they shared. It was consistence. Let us look at a few habits that we can apply to our routine to become more consistent and accomplished in life whether it is in business, athletics or our own personal goals.

Tip #1 Create a Routine

One of the main habits of consistent people is routines. They have routines that they stick to and live by. For myself, I have learned that a consistent morning routine can set the tempo for the flow of your day. By getting up early and applying a few things such as meditation stretching and journaling you can help get your mind and body prepared for the day. Morning meditation can help prevent stress, enhance your awareness and help you wake up on the Brightside finding that motivation that you need from within yourself. Stretching in the morning can relieve any tension or pain from sleeping the night before. It also will help increase your circulation throughout the body and help get you energized for the day. Journaling in the morning allows you to silence that inner critic that we all have inside of us. By getting a few pages in early we allow ourselves to clear our minds of emotions and thoughts from the previous day and make room for creativity to flow. By journaling you can keep your thoughts organized and that will help you set and achieve goals. By adding these things to your mourning routine, you are giving your mind the ability to inspire creativity and boost memory while also relieving the stress of self-doubt  and affirming your belief that you can accomplish anything that you set out to do.

Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
― Gandhi

Tip #2 HAVE A PLAN

Having a written plan will help keep you on track with critical behaviors. This can be a simple plan, but it serves as a reminder for what must be done to sustain efforts which will lead to a consistent performance. The plan should also contain rules for you to follow. If you have rules set in place it is easier to hold yourself accountable for your actions. The rules will keep you consistent and when you there are rules you are more likely to follow them.

 Tip #3 F.O.C.U.S

Follow One Course for Success

Focus in on your objective by creating process goals. Process goal are what it will take to complete the process and reveal your outcome goal. Build a system that will allow you to complete these tasks one by one. You must dedicate time to these goals daily. Stay focused with consistent thinking and eliminate erratic and distracting behaviors that can cause you to get sidetracked from your goals. It can be a person place or thing. If it causes you to lose focus and alignment with your goal it should be removed. To make this process easier you should focus on creating habits that automatically move you towards your goals. Habits are automatic behaviors that will work for you, but they can work against you so its best to create habits that will align with your goals.

Do not forget to track your progress. By tracking your progress, even if you slip up somewhere you will be able to recognize how far you have come and it will give you the motivation you need when you feel like quitting.

What you stay focused on will grow.”

Tip #4 Just Do It

Negative thoughts and feelings are temporary. It is an illusion. Do not let them derail you from your plan. In the moment they can feel powerful and even seem scary, but you must remember why you are doing this. Push through it. The anxiety and insecurity can become overwhelming, but It is only a temporary feeling that will pass but remember after you conquer the moment it will be worth it.

“Once you embrace your value, talents and strengths, it neutralizes when others think less of you.”
― Rob Liano

Consistency is a skill that cannot be learned. It is simply good old fashion hard work. Applying yourself everyday to the same goal. You must do the same thing repeatedly while improving upon it. Its nots something you can flaunt and its not flashy at all, but it does outweigh any skill set or talent.  Consistency creates confidence and confidence creates reliability and both bring assurance.
